Pugh urges review of Southport-Ormksirk road link
Thursday, 17 May 2007

Westminster Hall, 8th May: John Pugh secured a Private Members' Debate with the Transport Minister, Stephen Ladyman, to make the case for a better road link between Southport and Ormskirk. He argues that the current system for funding road schemes is loaded against small-scale projects such as the proposed Ormskirk Bypass, which was given only a low priority in the recent transport review. Dr Pugh urges the Transport Minister to look again at this scheme in order to provide better access to health care services in the area and argues that Southport has an economic case for a better links into Lancashire given the regeneration and expansion that have taken place there in recent years.
