Tour de Britain comes down Lord St |

MP John Pugh had praised Cllr Weavers for his efforts in making
Southport a cycling town, and securing the funding to do so. Now
however the go-ahead councillor has been instrumental in persuading the
Tour de Britain (formely the Milk Race) to come down Lord St on its final leg (stage 8) on 14th September and the event will be used to launch a
cycling festival involving all ages.

All Southport residents are feeling the shock of the rising energy bills. However, thousands of the poorest in Southport face a double whammy according to John Pugh. These are the people on pre-payment meters who are already paying over £142 more than those on Direct Debit; mostly they are people on low incomes - some even without bank accounts.
