 Local Churches could hold the key to continuing town centre Library services during the planned redevelopment of the Atkinson Library, according to John Pugh. The MP believes 18 months without a town centre library service is unnecessary and that "a bit of lateral thinking and possibly project re-design" is required.

 There are just under 600 bingo clubs in the UK - 60 having closed in the last two years. The situation for many of the others is bleak.  The Leader of the House (Harriet Harman) was urged in the House of Commons today by Southport's MP to put pressure on the Department of Health to make statement about the safety implications of the government policy of centralising services and what the MP called 'the' gutting' of District Hospitals.
