Local MP John Pugh joined other MPs to protest at the continued slaughter of bears to provide headgear for British Troops. Although Dr Pugh has taken this up with the Ministry of Defence, they claim artificial fur just will not do. John pictured here with an artificial bearskin hat begs to disagree. "It's nonsense. Wearing bearskins goes back to the barbarians and is all to do with having a fearsome appearance and looking big. There is not the slightest reason why an artificial equivalent involving no cruelty will not do. " |
