"The Select Committee on Local Government which I am on will shortly be releasing a report on Rubbish Collection based on experiences and evidence from right across the land and one thing we have learnt is that you must have local flexibility. Rural areas and bedsit land are particularly problematic but many other areas present challenges no matter what system the local council uses."

He adds: "There's always room for a sensible dialogue!".
