Many will be saddened to hear that Terry Francis, LibDem councillor for
Kew Ward until he retired last May, and Mayor of Sefton from 1996 to
1997, died at the weekend. John Pugh MP, who served alongside Terry for
many years as a Lib Dem councillor said:
"Terry's rapid decline and death is deeply upsetting for the party,
myself and his former constituents. He was a politician of the utmost
honour, a kind and thoughtful human being and a friend to all. He was a
source of good counsel, deeply principled with a sense of proportion
and a constant twinkle in his eye. Without ever seeking the headlines
he did an enormous amount of good in this world.
“When people are inclined to rubbish all politicians, they should stop
and recall people like Terry, whose whole life was genuinely one of
public service."
