John Pugh joined with Blue Peter presenter Zoe Salmon in the House of Commons to back Blue Peter's quest for 1,000,000 shoes. The MP donated his old shoes as part of the massive Blue Peter recycling campaign to raise funds for combating Aids and supporting children In Africa. The campaign organised by the TV programme is running nationwide. John said, " This campaign hits several targets. It boosts recycling while raising money for developing countries as well as making children aware of the issues. There must be lots of people with old shoes they know they will never wear again and after Christmas is a time many people have a clear out. If local schools pitch in we could make money for charity with our very own Southport shoe mountain." Pictured - attractive presenter and man brandishing some clearly well worn shoes. Keen observers will note they are both for the same foot. I donated two pairs. ![]() |
