John successfully defends his seat: The last General Election was held on 5th May 2005 and saw John Pugh defending the seat he won in 2001 following Ronnie Fearn's retirement. The results are shown below. John increased his majority from 3007 to 3838 - an increase of nearly 30% since 2001.
